On Friday 30th September the beavers and swans gathered together we made our first contact with another school
using the internet communication technology Skype.
not just to ask (closed) Yes/No questions!
The kindergarten students at the Calvert school in Baltimore, Maryland, USA prepared questions of their own. Despite being younger than our class, the Calvert students had more experience with Skype exchanges than us.
We even managed to sing our "Flat Stanley" song and send it 6614km away!
As Baltimore is 6 hours behind we needed to make the call at the end of the day.
The grade 2 students prepared questions that could be asked to an "alien". The children didn't know who they were contacting or where they came from.
This made them really think carefully about what they were asking, and

The children at both ends of the Skype line found it funny that at SIS we were finishing the school day and the American students were just arriving at school.
Just want to say thank you for the fotos and comments from daily school life. Even if I do not comment them regularly, I am always looking forward to these news from the beavers and swans. Please keep going like this!
